Pure Oil
This work tells the story of neglect and apathy towards our natural environment through a series
of photographs made along a secluded stretch of road traversing the Cajun Prairie. This location
is home to crawfish and rice farming, migratory birds, hunting, oil production, and illegal dumping-
including dozens of tires in ditches that run alongside the roadway. The images are representative
of the inherited legacy of the South- that heartbreaking paradox of beauty and violence in our
landscape. They are a study of human nature. Photographs made from 2023 - Present.
